Our Studio

The Little Empire Studio is a new purpose-built video podcast home studio and production house that has recorded hundreds of hours of video and audio content, enjoyed by tens of thousands of listeners and viewers globally. The studio, built in late 2024, is the physical home of Little Empire Podcasts - a legendary independent podcast network founded in 2016 by multi award-winning podcast host/producer, Tim Batt.


The studio regularly records shows for comedians including Chris Parker, Eli Matthewson and Guy Montgomery, and handles remote recording and editing facilities for many other podcasters including sports broadcasters Alice Soper and Women’s Rugby World Cup winning athlete, Les Elder.


Little Empire has recorded and/or edited:

  • RNZ’s Did Titanic Sink (Best Comedy Gold Medal winner, NZ Podcasts Awards 2023)
  • NZ's most successful comedy podcast, The Worst Idea of All Time with Guy Montgomery and Tim Batt (over 20 million downloads)

Tim is passionate about podcasting as a medium and has worked for years to bring more and more people's shows to the world.


Tim has been recognised with multiple podcast awards, in addition to hosting and producing a raft of independent shows over the years, he has also hosted and produced shows for RNZ, The Spinoff, Audible, Rova (Mediaworks), iHeart (NZME) and more.

Founder, Tim Batt

Little Empire Studio was created and is run by Tim Batt. Tim is one of NZ's top regarded podcast professionals. He has:

  • over a decade of professional experience in podcasting, and over 5 years in broadcast radio
  • 3x Best Comedy Podcast Awards from the NZ Podcast Awards
  • 3x Best Online Production awards from the NZ Comedy Guild
  • served as industry-defining podcast company, Acast's first ever NZ hire, serving as the inaugural Content Development Director
  • helped create dozens of shows for entertainers, sportspeople and thought leaders.
